When Coraline goes to tell the Other Father that dinner is ready, he sings her a song that, at first listen, seems cute and fun. But if you think about it carefully, and listen to the lyrics, he is actually giving her a warning of what the Other Mother’s motive is. (x)
…Holy shit.
aaaah
i don’t think it’s creepy at all. i think if you read too much into it, it could be. but the only remotely creepy line is “all eyes will be on coraline.” but like i said, only if u want it to be. it could just mean she has our attention, which is what she wanted. And he does call her a doll, but thats also just an adorable nickname. It’s one of those things that is what you make of it. If you want to think its supposed to be a warning, i guess you could see it that way, but its not something that is as black and white as that.
it could also just be cute
well of course it’s also a warning though, whether he meant it that way or not; that’s sort of the point of foreshadowing. It doesn’t make it creepy though if he meant it as a warning because then he’s trying to help her. We already know the Other Mother is a fucking creepy bitch. But I don’t know, maybe this opinion is the difference having read the book makes?
Yeah, I see it as a warning, since I’ve read the book.
